Lesbian Bishop Approved by Episcopal Church
March 18, 2010
by Brian Leubitz
I grew up in a Reform Jewish household. I’ll admit to not spending so much time on the doctrines of the faith, but I do retain my cultural heritage. I can do this, and remain true to myself, because Reform Judaism has been one of the leaders in gay rights. In 1990, they became one of the first major religious denominations to ordinate gay clergy, and in 2000 allowed same-sex commitment ceremonies. In California, many gay marriages were performed in temples across the state. And the conservative Jewish movement has since followed Reform Judaism’s lead.
But, it isn’t that easy in every faith. The Episcopalian church, the US version of the Anglican Church, has been torn apart by the question of how much respect should be granted to LGBT members. The first openly gay bishop, Gene Robinson, received death threats when he became bishop in the Northeast. But Episcopalians will soon have a lesbian bishop in Los Angeles:
Last night it was confirmed that the Rev Mary Glasspool, who has been with her partner, Becki Sander, for 22 years, had received the required number of votes from bishops and standing committees. Her consecration will take place on 15 Mayin Los Angeles.
Glasspool, from Baltimore, welcomed the news but admitted that not everybody would share in her happiness.
“Not everyone rejoices in this election and consent, and [I] will work, pray, and continue to extend my own hands and heart to bridge those gaps, and strengthen the bonds of affection among all people.”
*** *** ***
Her victory underscores a continued Episcopal commitment to accepting same-sex relationships, despite enormous pressure from other Anglicans to change their stand. (GuardianUK)
There will always be bigots, and some of them in the Episcopalian Church are showing themselves by moving towards a virulently anti-gay faction that is growing out of Nigeria. Yet, it is heartening to see church members simply electing the best person for the job, and ignoring any threats from the bigots.
Congratulations to Rev. Glasspool and the Los Angeles Episcopal Church.

That’s simple…. how much respect should be granted to non-LGBT members?…….<3…Ronnie

That is Great News! I appreciate these positive bits of news to counteract all the negativity that is thrown toward LGBT persons. I love watching Gene Robinson getting confirmed in “For The Bible Tells Me So” http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0912583/ thank you Brian for posting this update about Rev. Glasspool.

Ugly Betty’s Justin Gets First Gay Kiss
After four seasons of suggesting Ugly Betty’s Justin (Marc Indelicato) is probably gay, the shows writers gave him his first kiss with another guy in Wednesday’s episode. Watch it here.
By Advocate.com Editors
“With Ugly Betty winding down its run, producers have decided it’s time for Betty’s young cousin Justin (Marc Indelicato) to experience his first kiss … with another guy. Though the show has tiptoed around Justin’s sexuality from the beginning (creator Silvio Horta told The Advocate he cast Justin as an effeminate 11- or 12-year-old), this season, Horta said he wanted to tell the story of Justin coming to terms with his identity”
““We want to tell a story of Justin coming to terms with his identity over the course of this whole year, and I think when he says that, it’s really the beginning of telling the story, as opposed to the end,” Horta said. “It gives us a place to go to. He’s gonna be struggling with his identity, and that’s part of it that’s very realistic and relatable. Not really knowing who you are or what you are.”
I just watched the whole episode this mourning but here’s the clip……

Justin made a comment earlier this year about how he vehemently said he was absolutely not gay. Since it had been so o”obvious” that he was gay pretty much from the beginning, it was sort of weird to hear that comment. This was especially true since the TV family had always been pretty accepting, and there were other gay characters so that he could see that he would not be in danger if he came out.
After his “I’m not gay” comment, I was wondering if the writers had a different path in mind for Justin, and was very much hoping that they would have the courage to go that route, but it now appears that they will not. The path I was hoping for, which I think would have been truly courageous, would have been to have Justin as transgender.
I guess for that kind of acceptance, especially in mainstream primetime television, we will have to wait another generation or two, or even more. I sincerely hope that someday having a trans character on a show is just as accepted as it is today to be a gay or lesbian. Just shows how big the mountain is yet for us all to climb.

There have been a few trans characters on various shows, but certainly not often. Ugly Betty had one for a couple of seasons in Rebbeca Romjin. Of course that is also one of the things on TV, in that they will often use a female actor to portray a male-to-female trans. at least her character was not a serial killer, or something like that, as is way too often the case over the decades of portraying trans in movies and TV. They also did the same thing with the famous trans movie, TransAmerica, which I didn’t like very much. So many people said it was the first good trans movie, and yet I found it totally off base with regard to real trans. The absolute best film ever done on being trans is a wonderful one called Ma Vie En Rose and made in 1997.
I don’t watch soaps, so I can’t speak to how the trans person was portrayed and who played the part. The best primetime TV show to use a trans character was on ABC with Dirty Sexy Money. They had an actual trans woman, Candice Cayne, playing a trans character, Carmelita, and they did it very well. I have always hoped that her career would take off, but so far she has only done two episodes of Nip/Tuck since DSM was canceled. Keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Antigay Mailer Sparks Postal Dispute
By Julie Bolcer
“The Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Family Research Institute alleges that a local post office violated its freedom of speech by refusing to grant a reduced nonprofit bulk rate for a mailing of an antigay newsletter about gays in the military.”
(me) What part of using tax money to discriminate and spread words of Hate do they not understand being illegal and unconstitutional?…..The postal service is federal owned by ALL tax payers money…..
““The Family Research Institute wanted to express its concerns about gays in the military in a bulk newsletter to be mailed out. FRI says local postal officials refused to mail out the newsletter because they deemed the content ‘obscene’ and ‘incited force-able resistance against the government’ after a routine check of the mail before it was authorized to be sent out.”
(me) Why can’t you just send emails to people instead of inundating people with hate mail?…..”incited force-able resistance against the gov.”……sounds like a threat from the Hateros…yeah?…..
“FRI will be allowed to mail the newsletter at the nonprofit rate, which will cost it three cents less per piece than the standard rate.”
(me) why don’t they just say that it was sent out…then burn it…JMHGO…..<3…Ronnie
19.
Marlene Bomer | March 18, 2010 at 4:52 pm
The Postal Service has the perfect right to stop any mail they deem ‘obscene’.
I guess it was okay for them back in the day to stop Margaret Sanger’s sex education material and magazines like “One” or “The Ladder”, but heaven forbid the same laws apply to *them*!
20.
Ed-M | March 18, 2010 at 7:35 pm
I guess the FRI used NH State Rep Nancy Elliot’s “wiggling around in excrement” remark amongst other niceties in their direct hate mailing and the USPS properly deemed it obscene. Now they’re bellyachin’ HAHAHA.
But don’t expect these hatero types to wake up to their own smear tactics. Ever.

Breaking: Choi Chains Self to White House Gates
By Kerry Eleveld and Advocate.com Editors
“In what appears to be an unscripted act of civil disobedience following a Human Rights Campaign rally for the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” in Washington on Thursday, Lt. Dan Choi has led a group of protesters to the White House, where he has handcuffed himself to the front gates along with former Army infrantryman James Pietrangelo.”
(ME) Oh SHITE!!!!!!!………
“Police officers are blocking the gates of the White House with yellow tape and are pushing back about 100 protesters, who are chanting DADT repeal slogans and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.”
“”You’ve been told that the White House has a plan,” Choi told rally protesters in full military uniform. “But we learned this week that the president is still not fully committed. … Following this rally, I will be leading [the protest] to the White House to say ‘enough talk.’ … I am still standing, I am still fighting, I am still speaking out, and I am still gay.”
“Gay rights activist Robin McGehee was arrested after she had apparently helped the two discharged soldiers handcuff themselves the fence. An officer who arrested McGehee said “I can’t say anything” on why she was taken into custody.”
story developing…….
(me) What did I say?…..Did I not say these things were historically bound to happen?……The Hateros never learn…..WE WILL NOT BE PUSHED AND SILENCED ANYMORE!!!!!!!!…..<3….Ronnie

Episcopalians, in the U.S. Anglicans in Canada, its’ good to see the the Church engaged in this debate, they are discovering the difference between religious right, and spirituality, very reassuring to see people inside the Church have been doing this for years.
And presently it’s come to the point where the Church is looking at a possible split, that’s how powerful gay people are. In Canada, the right wing of the Anglican Church, which wants to separate, was told they don’ have ownership to the buildings they worship in.
An African Bishop has invited them to join his fold, also the Catholic Church has seen the opportunity to increase it’s membership, and make arrangements to take them in, paving the way for married clergy in the Catholic Church.
It’s good to see things tossed up, while in a discussion group at a service in the Anglican Church, (gay friendly), I told them how much I appreciated being in a Church that had already been broken for me. Referring to the sacrament, where the body of christ is broken for you. And the church is the body of christ.
The church of my childhood, won’t even allow the discussion, they perpetrate spiritual violence in order to maintain conformity.
The religious right is loosing it’s power here, so they must go to countries like Africa, where people are still lacking basic needs , and are willing to buy the old missionary style (pun intended) of brainwashing, in order to be fed.

Lt. Choi, you ar a hero to so many of us. And in honor of this, I want to once again reiterate that this is what we ALL need o do. WE need to make ourselves more visible, in the clothing that represents our work attire. Whether we are soldiers, doctors, lawyers, sailors, marines, airmen, coasties, reserve, ative duty, retired, barbers, beauticians, florists, mechanics, race car drivers, baseball players, hockey players, restaurant workers, football players, basketball player, skiers, skaters, skateboarders, mucicians, actors, actresses, TV hosts, preachers, postal service workers, UPS, FedEx, DHL, Purolator Courier workers, teachers, nurses, politicians, or whatever our job is during te day, we need to march as one, we need to have sit-ins, we need to chain ourselves to buildings and structures, we need to MOBILIZE and we need to mobilize as one cohesive unit. And yes, this call to ction is going out to all of my LGBTQQIA brothers and sisters. If your job involves crossdressig, then dress as that. But at the same time, we ALL need to mobilize no matter what our work uniform is. Ad yes, thse of us who have children needto bring our children alon. We MUST show the right-wing radical element that we are no different that they are, that our community is more than just the stereoptypes portrayed on TV and in the movies. WE have to put as many human faces on this as we can find, and this means that those wo are in the closet need to begin the process of coming out. NO, it will not be easy to come out, but the end result will be worth it. If Constance McMillen can be open in Mississippi, we can be open all across the US. Discrimination MUST end, it must no longer be legally tolerated, but it will not happen until we all get off our butts and march!

On NOM.com blog:
“Dear Friends of Marriage,”
(me) yeah ok……
“On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee voted 8-6 to table the Marriage Protection Amendment, effectively killing SB207 for this year.”
(me) You’re just a little late there now aren’t you?…what they conveniently leave out is that it is the 3rd time it was rejected…..And they say that we don’t understand the word “NO”….yeah ok…..
“The eight votes to kill the amendment included three senators who voted for a similar measure in committee just two years ago.”
(me) They really like the word “Kill” don’t they?…..
“Please take a moment to call and politely, yet forcefully…….”
(me) politely and forcefully?….Isn’t that and oxymoron?….please accept my apology as I force you to change your mind……
“tell these three senators how disappointed you are that they would turn their backs on marriage and on the people of Pennsylvania…….”
(me) Buy LGBTQQIA people are also the people of Pennsylvania…….and why just those 3?…..Why not force all of them as you put it?……
“who overwhelmingly support the Marriage Protection Amendment. Especially if you live in their district, call and tell them you want, and expect, leaders who will stand for what is right, and not sell out to special interests.”
(me) blah blah blah blah….what are special interests?….Broadway shows?…….Indie movies verses bubble gum teenie bop movies?……..Freedom of religion?…..
Senators Who Sold Out on Marriage (Voted Yes in 2008 / No in 2010)
Sen. Lisa Boscola (D): District 18- Bethlehem (610) 868-8667
Sen. Mike Stack (R): District 5- Philadelphia (215) 281-2539
Sen. Mary Jo White (R): Dist. 21- Franklin, Butler, etc. (814) 432-4345
(me) Sold Out?…..that’s a bit harsh….Let’s stick to the man….you are starting to sound like hippies….but that can’t be….because hippies don’t believe in hate and discrimination….they believe in peace, love and equality man….and Puff the Magic Dragon…but thats a different battle…..
“Many thanks to each of you who took the time to call and write your senators earlier this week. While falling short this year, our work is far from over. We’ll be back — making this vote an issue in the November elections, and then working to gain votes for passage next year.”
(me) yeah thanks for doing absolutely nothing to change their minds as they saved the day for Marriage Equality and LGBTQQIA rights…..<3…Ronnie

Wouldn’t turning your back on marriage actually be promoting legislation that ends marriage altogether? Rather, the committee is showing their support of marriage by helping lay the groundwork for marriage equality.

Sheryl | March 18, 2010 at 4:31 pm
Trevor, you think to logically. The far right doesn’t care about logic. They don’t care that the LGBT community are tax paying citizens of these states. They care that their agenda to keep marriage traditional (you know between 1 man and 1 woman, even though that may not be traditional for all cultures). Wouldn’t want to muddy the waters with logical thinking.

Gen. Blames Gays for Bosnian Genocide
By Michelle Garcia
“Retired Marine Gen. John Sheehan (pictured) blames the Netherlands’ inclusion of gays in the military for thousands of Bosnian deaths in 1995.”
(me) Yeah ok….whatever you say PSYCHO…..
“Sheehan was the top NATO commander in the 1990s during the height of genocide in former Yugoslavia.”
(me) Then wouldn’t that put you as one of the people who are at fault?…..
“The Dutch military was the first to allow gays to serve openly in the ranks when it lifted its ban in 1974. Two decades later, 400 Dutch peace keepers were stationed in Srebrenica when Serbian forces attacked the Bosnian Muslims, killing 8,000 men and boys by Serbian forces.”
(me) What does that have to do with gays and lesbians?……
“Sheehan said that allowing gays in the Dutch military left peace keepers “ill-equipped to go to war.”
(me) wait for it….
“When Carl Levin, chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee asked him to verify whether Dutch leaders said the mission failed because it included gay soldiers, Sheehan said yes.”
“They did?” Levin asked.
(me)hehehehehehehehehehehe……..
“They included that as part of the problem,” Sheehan replied. He added that the former chief of staff of the Dutch army said allowing gay service members detracted from its war-fighting abilities.”
(me) The Hateros are really pulling out all the stops on lying train aren’t they?…….
“Levin countered, “But I think that any effort to connect that failure on the part of the Dutch to the fact that they have homosexuals, or did allow homosexuals, I think is totally off-target.”
(me)Doh!!….PWND…..wait there’s more….
“Roger van de Wetering, a spokesman for the Netherlands Ministry of Defense, told Voice of America news that Sheehan’s statements were “total nonsense” and that he “cannot believe that a man of that rank is stating such a thing.”

Where is Lt. Dan Choi?
Posted by John Aravosis (DC) at 3/18/2010 07:16:00 PM
UPDATE: Dan’s representative just called the DC Central Cellblock, where Dan and James are being held. I’m told it’s a nasty place. They report that they’re not giving Dan a phone call. So he doesn’t get bail. He’s reportedly going to see a judge tomorrow. Something is going on.
UPDATE: We have more information. This is increasingly disturbing. It increasingly looks as though someone has decided to play hardball with Dan and James. The Park Police say that Dan is not being released on bail. Dan also has not made his phone call to the person designed to pay his bail – the person’s phone number is written on Dan’s arm, so there’s no chance he doesn’t have it. That means that Dan apparently is not being permitted a phone call, and thus not being permitted to have anyone pay his bail. Why not? We have just learned that Dan is in fact being charged with “failure to obey a lawful order,” yet that charge usually means you get processed, you pay bail, and you leave. Then why are they not letting Dan Choi leave, but instead are holding him to be arraigned? Why are they apparently not permitting Dan his phone call?
As you know, Lt. Dan Choi got arrested today at the White House along with Capt. James Pietrangelo. Both men handcuffed themselves to the White House gates in protest of the President’s “ambivalence” over repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. The odd thing is that Dan appears to be missing. Kerry Eleved at the Advocate reported that the Park Police said Dan was being held in Anacostia. A friend called the MPD station in Anacostia, and they told him that they weren’t holding anyone. The Park Police also reported that Dan was being held overnight, which, according to an MPD source, is unusual if in fact Dan is being charged with “failure to obey a lawful order,” as it’s being reported, usually you’d be released on bail immediately. So why are Dan and James being held overnight? And why can’t anyone even find out where they’re being held?
HRC issues statement on Dan Choi – which appears to be … Police holding Lt. Dan Choi and Pvt. James Pietrangelo

Another example of the right pulling “facts” out of their ass. Anyone want to venture a guess as to how many right wing nuts will pick up this latest “fact” and spread it among the uneducated masses? Hmmm… maybe we could start a betting pool as to how many days it will take for this to be reported by Glenn Beck, or to show up at the “Americans For Truth” website….

Ronnie | March 18, 2010 at 4:04 pm
I’m not going to bet….but I guarantee you they leave out what Roger van de Wetering, spokesman for the Netherlands Ministry of Defense said….or just flat out lie that he said the opposite….JMHGO….<3….Ronnie
63.
Kathleen | March 18, 2010 at 4:08 pm
That was part of my point, Ronnie. The whacko’s are going to pick up and report this newly revealed “fact” that the Dutch military leaders say letting gay people serve in their military left them “ill-equipped to go to war.” It’s such a perfectly self-serving fabrication that it will have to take on a life of its own among all the right wingers.
64.
Ronnie | March 18, 2010 at 4:29 pm
And then we point them to the truth….the dates in which statements were brought to light….Unless the Hateros falsify records….which I have no doubt that they do….they will always be PWND…gotta enjoy the technology/information age……”I love living in the future”……..hehehehe…<3…Ronnie.

What Sheehan didn’t say was that the Dutch forces at Sbrenica were TOLD to stand down because they were outnumbered 10-1. So this hatero thinks if they were all macho straights they would have disobeyed orders and killed off the overwhelmingly more numerous, better-firepowered Serbs??? Give me a break. It appears to me that someone is covering their @$$ for orders they sent from NATO HQ… jess sayin’

Yeah, it couldn’t possibly be that the Dutch position was overrun by a significantly larger force …

They won’t release Dan Choi OR even have a phone call.bail denied..won’t let him talk to a lawyer even.
68.
draNgNon | March 18, 2010 at 7:51 pm
isn’t Dan Choi still in the service? did he not chain himself to the White House gate in uniform? why the hell would they free him?
when you are in uniform you are NOT a free citizen. you have Signed on the Dotted Line.
he is going to get a courtmartial and some time in Levenworth, I think. stupidest move I’ve seen. what was he thinking? he should be letting others, not in uniform, not subject to military discipline, advocate for this cause.
this move just feeds the pro DADT people red meat. “see? gays in the military DO break down discipline.”
stupid stupid. not heroic AT ALL.
69.
Ronnie | March 18, 2010 at 7:55 pm
No draNgNon….see what he is doing is proving that he will suffer for his rights……..that he will suffer for our rights….He knows exactly what he is doing…..Alice Paul knew should would be arrested and tortured for what she did and she did it anyway……This is not the last we see of things like this….I’m five seconds away from doing the same if not more….JMHGO….<3…Ronnie
70.
Ed-M | March 18, 2010 at 8:11 pm
Dan will NOT see a courtmartial or see time in Leavenworth… he will be held incommunicado as an enemy combatant in Guantanamo and treated like the terrorists (actual and perceived) that he will be tortured alongside… because the hateros have decide that this is THEIR country and theirs ONLY… and WE are the enemy combatants… jess sayin’

all reference to GLBT’s have been removed and omitted.
again..nothing for the gays.
72.
Ronnie | March 18, 2010 at 5:34 pm
All of this illegal and unconstitutional…..everyone is entitled to one phone call and a lawyer…..how much do you want to be that this turns into what happened to Alice Paul during women’s suffrage…..and unlawful imprisonment that resulted in violent riots all across the country…..Will the Hateros ever learn that history is repeating itself right down to the chains…..<3….Ronnie
73.

74.
Ronnie | March 18, 2010 at 7:56 pm
how so?
75.
Dave T | March 19, 2010 at 5:37 am
See draNgNon’s comments earlier – Lt. Dan Choi may be subject to the uniform code of military justice, which is a very different animal from civil law. IANAL, much less a JAG lawyer, so I don’t know exactly what rights Choi will be afforded, but it would not surprise me that bail is not one of them.
76.
Ronnie | March 19, 2010 at 5:55 am
They can free him of their own accord or they will be forced to free him……..They really are ignoring the fact that this can get extremely violent…again underestimating what we can do and what we will do…… Yesterday over 20 people were arrested for this movement…..Next time it will be 50 and then 100 and then a 1000…..Like I said the peaceful thing is wearing thin….Eventually it will not be please give us our rights….it will be give us our rights or you will be forced to give us our rights…..JMHGO…..<3…Ronnie

Activists Stage Sit-in, Push Pelosi on ENDA
By Kerry Eleveld
Ten LGBT activists were arrested after 19 people staged a bi-coastal sit-in at the San Francisco and Washington, D.C., offices of House speaker Nancy Pelosi to demand that the Employment Non-Discrimination Act be brought to the House floor for a vote by the end of March. Four of the eight activists in the D.C. office and six of the 11 in San Francisco were arrested. They were eventually fined $125 each and released.

Richard W. Fitch | March 18, 2010 at 6:58 pm
This obviously has gone viral on the net. One comment said that since Choi is still in the National Guard, he will be transferred to military custody. That is why no bail has been allowed. There are protests across the nation in response to Dan and James being arrested. It is a mixed blessing, but the publicity it generates will hopefully be in the good for repeal of DADT.

Your whole analysis can be dismissed as speculation, which it is, and will only give them more reasons to attack you. That is too bad really, because there is so much in the New Testament which can be quoted literally, and put the Bible thumpers on the defense.
Maybe I should start doing my Daily Bible Passages again? An argument can be made that men and women should not marry:
1 Corinthians
7:8 To the unmarried and widows I say that it is best for them to remain as I am. 7:9 But if they do not have self-control, let them get married. For it is better to marry than to burn with sexual desire.
* * * *
7:32 And I want you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. 7:33 But a married man is concerned about the things of the world, how to please his wife, 7:34 and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is concerned about the things of the Lord, to be holy both in body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the things of the world, how to please her husband. 7:35 I am saying this for your benefit, not to place a limitation on you, but so that without distraction you may give notable and constant service to the Lord.

@Waxr, you’re probably correct… they would accuse me of casting assertions on Jesus’ character! Yet there is a tale in Matthew and Mark where Jesus allegedly curses a fig tree for not having fruit on it at an inappropriate time.
Matthew 21:18-22:
Mark 11:12-14, 19-25
This is definitely a difficult passage which in the eyes of non-Christians, really casts assertions on Jesus’ character, especially when one compares this to [Luke 13:6-9] The Parable of the Landowner and His Fig Tree! Here’s one example of a non-Christian concluding that this tale of Jesus and the Fig Tree shows His character in a less than favorable light: http://emsnews.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/the-dying-fig-tree/

Florida Film Bill Stripped of Antigay Language
By Neal Broverman
A Florida bill that would have provided tax credits to movie producers while stipulating their films cannot contain “nontraditional family values,” has been stripped of its contentious language.
The “family friendly” condition — seen to many as antigay and antichoice —was removed from senate version of the bill, which passed by the ways and means committee on Thursday. A house version still contains the language, but according to Florida Together, a coalition of state equality organizations, several members of the house expressed interest in stripping the proviso of their bill, as well.
“Florida Together is delighted the discriminatory language was removed from the Senate bill,” Georg Ketelhohn, chair of Florida Together, said in a press release. “We thank the senate for working with us to craft a bill that can create jobs without discriminating against a segment of Florida’s families. But the work is not done yet, and we continue to work with the house to achieve similar progress on the House bill.”

hey everyone…we all need to forget about HRC and go sign up at :
http://www.getequal.org.
very quick sign up, and they even allow you to specify what things you would be interested in such as local meetings, or civil disobedience, tpwn halls, blog storming…. etc etc etc..
we need to support this group who has done more for us in 2 weeks than HRC has ever done.
Today Joe solmonese showed his priorities when he refused to walk with Dan choi to the white house.
all he wanted was more camera time because he wants so bad to be famous,.
dear Joe..you already are famous…for screwing the gay community time and time again..we are going to cut off your “allowance” (you call it our donations)
and you need to get out and get a real job.
you pay yourself 350,000 annually out of OUR donations, and all you do is attend dinner parties and try to get yourself on camera. WORTHLESS!!
Everybody please sign up for http://www.getqual.org
let’s make a real difference and show HRC how it’s done!

Schumer Signals UAFA Inclusion
By Kerry Eleveld
“Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer sent a letter to some of his LGBT constituents in New York signaling that comprehensive immigration reform would include a provision for LGBT families”
(me) SWEET!!!!……
““The failure to recognize permanent partners in the application for legal permanent residency is a major concern for many Americans,” reads the letter, which was obtained by Immigration Equality. Schumer then reiterates his support for the Uniting American Families Act, which would allow U.S. citizens and green card holders to sponsor their same-sex partners for permanent residency. “I support this principle of immigration reform,” he writes, “and I am working on introducing a comprehensive package that would address this issue along with a host of immigration issues…”
(me) Now all I need is to do is find a foreign boyfriend and marry him…yeah?…..
the full letter is on the other end of the link….<3…Ronnie

But even gay rights backers admit they’ll have a steep incline to overcome.
“You got two very tough issues – the rights of same-sex couples and immigration,” openly gay Congressman Barney Frank, a Democrat from Massachusetts, told the Washington Blade. “You put them in the same bill, and it becomes impossible. We just don’t have the votes for it.”

As an Eagle Scout, this kind of thing always saddens me. All the good the organization does is tainted by bigotry and corruption. I suppose I was fortunate to be in a good troop – I don’t think there was any direct Mormon influence at all, and the Scoutmaster (a veteran Marine from Texas) once said something like “I don’t care if they’re gay or straight, as long as they treat the kids right” in regards to the other adult leaders.

I agree dopty-daddy…..I think its because The truth is there….its in your face….its not transparent…..and whether you like it or not…its there…and nothing is going to change that…..where as Art is a perceived truth…..no matter what it says….it says something about something….it is also in your face….you have to face it or leave…..Both the truth and art can be uncomfortable…..and confrontational….that is what makes them both real…..you can either deal with it….or move on….Whoa…too early for philosophy…..hehehehe……<3…Ronnie
